Ying S. Hu, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Chemistry

Faculty Affiliate, Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics

Full Member, University of Illinois Cancer Center

Office: 312-355-0838, email: yshu@uic.edu

My academic journey began in Texas, where I studied applied electromagnetism and antenna designs as an undergrad. As a graduate student and DOE CSGF fellow, I explored light waves and designed nanomaterials for cancer theranostics. As a postdoctoral scholar in Southern California, I studied super-resolution microscopy and T cell biology. The academic journey has taken me to Chicago, where I established a research laboratory focused on nanoscale immunobiophysics. I work fluently across engineering, molecular biology, and chemistry. I enjoy music, arts, autobiographies, cooking, tennis, and biking along the lake.
