Jesse won 1st place in the Engineering Expo!
Introduction
Our lab member, Jesse Anderson, won 1st place in the Engineering Expo within the Chemical Engineering Department and received a Best In Show award from Dean Nelson. His project uses Lactobacillus Reuteri to transform waste glycerol from the biodiesel industry into 1,3 propanediol, a product used in skincare and textiles. This process is an improvement on existing technologies and lowers carbon emissions by converting carbon dioxide to plant biomass. Congrat!
